Brief Introduction:
Hafeez Jalandhari was born in Jalandhar on 14th February 1900, in Punjab. His father’s name was “Shams-ud-Din” who was a “Hifz-e-Quran”. Hafeez Jalandhari was not only a poet but also famous as the national anthem’s poet, he doesn’t need any introduction. Due to his poetry, he served Pakistan through his poetry and become an imitation idle for the young writer. He often said that his soul belonging to Mujahid and his heart belonged to a Poet. However, he wrote poetry and ghazal[1]. He died on 21st December 1982 in Lahore, Pakistan. At that time his age was about 82 years old. He had been buried at “Lahore, Model Town”. The Pakistan Government shifted his remaining to Lahore, Near Minar-e-Pakistan, later[2].
Hafeez jalandhari’s life story:
Hafeez Jalandhari consumed more than half of his life in the knowledge and the literature. He will live in our hearts due to his origin of the National Anthem. Maybe he is a listener or the reader, he wrote the national anthem, Shahnama-e-Islam, and also did work for history. His work about Islam had an impression on everyone. Due to his hard work and services, he had been awarded by the title of “Poet of Islam” and the “Poet of Pakistan”. And for services of the scholar and national services, he was also rewarded by the title “Hilal-e-Imtiaz” and “The Pride of Performance” by the Pakistan Government[3].
Birth’s life story:
He was born in “Jalandhar Punjab” which was ruled by the “Britisher” known as British India on 14th January 1900. After the partition of India, he moved to “Lahore” the Province of “Punjab” in 1947[3].
Education:
Hafeez Jalandhari got his early education from the Masjid and by availing the opportunity of the school, get education from the school in the 7th class/grade. His parents were so religious and followers of Islam. Therefore, Islam has been enlightened him from childhood, and he also had the passion to become a poet.Hafeez Jalandhari and his parents face many problems due to bad condition of income. Thus, he had to do a job and face many worries at that time. His school education could not be completed due to financial crisis. But his interest in poetry and the speech increases day by day. He learned the secrets of poetry from the famous poet “Maulana Ghulam Qadir Bulgrami” which was the famous Persian Poet and his name was also included in the list of famous poets[3].
Career of Hafeez Jalandhari:
Hafeez Jalandhari’s life was full of struggle and could not have an end. He did his first job in the railways and continue his writing work. He wrote many journals and made a name for himself. He had a great interest in writing so he could live in less pay. He published his first book name “Ijaz” in a monthly magazine in 1921. His teacher Grami gave the personal acquaintance with the regular writers of the magazine a letter of the Hakim Ajmal Khan when he was in Delhi and the other was Maulana Sharrer in Lucknow. He was editor of the standard literary magazines from 1922 to 1929, the magazines were “Nohal, Hazar Dastan, Tahzeeb Niswan and Makhzan”.
The popular collections were “Soz-o-Saaz, Naghma-e-Zar” and the collections of the fictions were “Haft-e-Peker & Chunyanti Nama” were most famous. He became the Publicity Officer when the second world war II had been started. When “Tahreek e Pakistan” was famous and worked for the Separate country, he was the active member and work for the Muslims. He worked for the activities for the Independence of the Kashmir in 1948. He became the Director-General of the Morals and caretaker of Kashmir affairs in the armed forces of Pakistan when Pakistan came into being. He built the book siding in the Lahore and started publishing books[3].
Marriage:
Hafeez Jalandhari was married to cousin “Zeenat Begum” in 1917 when he was 17 years old. He had 7 children who were all girls. The second wife was “Anela” which was from the London of Lithuanian descent. From the second wife, he had only one daughter and gave her divorce. The first wife died in 1954 and again third time married with “Khurshid Begum” and a girl was born[1].
National Anthem:
There are the nations in the world that have their own flag and the national anthem, and it is the sign of the independent nation. Hafeez Jalandhari’s national anthem was selected from 723 national anthems by the committee of the national anthem. The tune was composed of the “SG Chagla” and this anthem made as fabulous national spirit and the anthem was aired on 13th August 1954. He worked hard for the nation from childhood to the older age, and he came to us an angel, and his services can never be forgettable which is a great blessing to the nation. The national anthem duration between 1 minute and 30 seconds which was written by the Hafeez Jalandhari[3].
Quaid-e-Azam wanted to hear the national anthem for Pakistan and wanted to be prepare as soon as possible, but his wish could not be completed in his life. The national anthem was thus selected and under the leadership of the “Liaqat Ali Khan” was formed in 1949. The first meeting was placed at the dwelling of “Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar”. There were all the musicians and a tune was composed. The second meeting was held on the 4th of July 1949. There were hundreds of anthems received but it was not decided[3].
At last, “Ahmed Ghulam Ali Chagla” composed a gorgeous strain of the national anthem. The melody was approved in August 1949. In other words, the Quaid-e-Azam died, thus the composing of the national anthem could not be completed. At last, the task of the national anthem was given to the Hafeez Jalandhari rendering to the tune, the task of writing “Bol”. On 7th August 1954, the national anthem was approved[3].
As a Poet:
The official flag design in the name of “Hilal Istaqlal” was design given in “Lahore, Sialkot, and Sargodha” because this was a symbol of the valor and the daring, after the battle of 1965. Then he wrote a poem for the flag which was called the “Hilal Istaqlal” the national poems and the anthem so that the nation’s morale can be raised. Hafeez Jalandhari wrote many national songs for the nation when the second world war has been started. He did a lot of experiments in the ghazal and he called himself a ghazal singer. The main thing was that he used the “Silesian Language” and thru the nearby events the themes of his ghazals. The Hafeez Jalandhari’s ghazals were very famous in such a way that, the ghazal has sung by the Malika Noor Jahan, and the ghazal was “Abhi tu me Jawan hu”, and this ghazal always being heard by many people. They like it very much[3].
Hafeez Jalanfhari’s Death:
Hafeez Jalandhari died on 21st December 1982. He was buried at “Lahore” in “Model Town”. But after some time his dead body altered to near the “Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore”. After his death, the topic of the knowledge and the literature had been closed, but his hard work and effort will always be remembered[3].
Memories and the Post Stamp:
In 2011, the Government of Pakistan issued a stamp that remembered us for his hard work and efforts[3].
